The
mandate of Bells Corners Academy of Music is to encourage and challenge
students from all walks of life to expand their musical experience via offering
high calibre music education by exceptionally well trained and experienced
teaching staff. Our philosophy is that music education is vital and should be
available to everyone and that music can be valued, understood and enjoyed by
all.
The
Bells Corners Academy of Music was founded in 1992 as the Music Nepean Symphony
School. As its original name indicates, the school focused on providing
orchestral experience and training to its students at its inception. The music
school changed its name in 1999 to better reflect the new broader mandate of
the music school. This mandate not only includes classical music education in
broad terms but jazz training as well. The school obtained its not for profit
charitable status in 1993.
BELLS
CORNERS ACADEMY OF MUSIC is a non-profit music school run by a volunteer Board
of Directors
and a Music Director. With a diverse and complementary set of skills and
experience, the board is well qualified to maintain the continued viability and
success of the school and provide support for music education in the Ottawa
community.
